From Black Cadillac to Red Rider
For Michael, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, his seated walker was more than just a mobility aid. For three years, he affectionately called it his “Black Cadillac.” But after countless trips in and out of vehicles, his trusted walker began to break down, making everyday mobility more difficult. That’s when a county social worker reached out to us for help.

GCVF team member, Charles, cleaned and tuned up a donated seated walker and delivered it directly to Michael’s apartment. The new walker had an easier-to-use folding mechanism, making it much simpler for Michael to transport.
Michael gave his new ride a name: the “Red Rider.”

This is the power of in-kind donations. A piece of equipment that someone no longer needs can become an essential resource for a veteran who does.
