Tony medical equipment
A Walker, a Kindness, and Renewed Independence

Tony, a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, had relied on his seated walker for years, but after frequent use, it eventually wore down beyond repair. Without a working walker of his own, Tony began borrowing one from a neighbor to get around the care facility where he lives.

That’s when another veteran, John, stepped in. John had previously received assistance from GCVF and reached out to ask if we could help Tony find a replacement. Charles, a member of our GCVF team, cleaned and tuned up a donated seated walker and delivered it directly to Tony. And in a small but meaningful coincidence, Tony’s new walker was almost identical to the one he had been borrowing.

One veteran saw a need. A community answered. And a Korean War veteran got back something essential to his everyday independence.
