When Ben was priced out of his previous housing, he found himself with no roof over his head, just a tarp and a tent, doing his best to stay safe and dry on the streets of Ventura County.
But his story didn’t end there.
Our team at Gold Coast Veterans Foundation stepped in, helping him secure a spot at a local campsite. It was a temporary solution, but one that provided critical safety, rest, and dignity, giving Ben the breathing room he needed to begin rebuilding.
Soon after, we were able to move him into transitional housing, where he embraced the stability and support available to him. He never lost his determination to move forward, and before long, the opportunity for permanent housing opened up.
Today, Ben lives independently in his own home, peaceful, secure, and surrounded by possibility. Even better, he’s preparing to welcome his brother to live with him soon, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope and connection.
His journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support and a community that believes in second chances, even the most difficult situations can lead to stability, and a future worth looking forward to.
