World War II Veteran Receives Military Medals Decades After Service

Army Pfc. Edward Eddings
Congressman Jim Costa presents the flag to World War II Army veteran Edward Eddings during a special ceremony at the Fresno Veterans Home.

Edward Eddings, Word War II veteran and resident at the California Veterans Home – Fresno, was honored by U.S. Congressman Jim Costa in a medal pinning ceremony on Monday, April 2.

Army Pfc. Eddings was part of the 93rd AAA Gun Battalion Battery D during WWII. As with many veterans, he never followed up to receive his medals. A fellow resident contacted Congressman Costa’s office and they were able to secure the medals and ribbons he was due.

Eddings was able to share this special day with members of his family and some of his fellow residents. Always remember, it is never too late to honor a veteran for their service and sacrifice.
