Volunteer to Help a Veteran in Need

Do you want to volunteer your time to make a difference in the life of a veteran? We would love to have your help! Our organization is built on the efforts of many volunteers who are passionate about helping veterans here in Ventura County.

We are currently offering the following volunteer opportunities:

Office Assistant

Office volunteers are needed for the following days: Thursdays and Fridays.

As a volunteer office assistant, we will ask you to do any of the following:

  • Speak with veterans who call on the phone or visit our Veterans Connection office
  • Research online veteran information
  • We request that you are experienced in answering phone calls.
  • Some proficiency in Microsoft Office is very helpful.

Active Duty & Reserves Duty Personnel

If you are in uniform and would like to volunteer for our events we would appreciate your help!

You would greet visitors at our booth, represent your branch of the military, transport event items, set-up & breakdown, and receive much respect & thanks from visitors.

You would also be supporting veteran & military events 1-3 times a month in Ventura County.

Thank you for your service and consideration of volunteering with Gold Coast Veterans Foundation.

Grant Researcher

Do you like to do puzzles and like problem solving?  Training will be provided so you can help us find grants for veteran programs. As a volunteer, you will assist our grant writer in researching funding sources for grants. Schedule is flexible.

Online Selling Site

We need your help setting up an account for Facebook Marketplace or another successful online selling site.

On occasion, we receive items donated to our organization that we cannot necessarily use or give to a veteran in need. Those are items that we will sell, with all proceeds set aside for emergency services provided by our Mobile Veteran Outreach (MVO) program, such as hotel rooms, food, and gas.

Videographer

A volunteer is needed to video us creating items for homeless veterans & veteran families in need.

It would take approximately 2 hours on two separate days = a total of 4 hours.

Volunteer Truck Drivers

We receive physical items that members of our community wishes to donate to our veterans in need. These items fulfill the Veteran Wish Lists for recently-housed, disabled, and injured veterans. Some of the larger physical items that we receive include the following:

  • Electric wheelchairs and scooters
  • Electric recliners (that help you get into a standing position)
  • Sofas
  • Beds
  • Dining tables and chairs
  • Refrigerators

We need your help to transport such items to veterans’ homes.  If you own a pickup truck or cargo van and/or are physically capable of helping load and unload such items, we would appreciate your time and support to change the lives of our veterans in need.

Volunteer Veteran Writers

If you are a veteran and have an inspirational story to share with other veterans about how your military service has positively influenced your life, please contact us! Other veterans would like to read inspirational stories to connect with.  You can either write at home or in our office.

If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering for one of these positions, please call us at (805) 482-6550. We look forward to meeting with you!
