Groups Go Above and Beyond to Serve Veterans

Ventura County has over 3,000 nonprofit organizations, according to the Ventura County Assessor’s office, and more than 40 military and veteran nonprofit organizations listed on GuideStar, a nonprofit watchdog. I work for one of them – the Gold Coast Veterans Foundation.

I am fortunate to witness the generosity of our county’s citizens, businesses, agencies and organizations that work to assist our nearly 40,000 local veterans. I would like to recognize two organizations I believe go above and beyond to assist our veterans: the Knights of Columbus and the Ventura County Veterans Service Office.

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization. They provide Catholic church members and their families with volunteer opportunities to serve their communities, families and young people. This includes support of veterans.

The Ventura County Veterans Service Office is a small group of county professionals who assist veterans and their dependents by filing claims for state and federal veteran benefits on the veteran’s behalf.

On behalf of our veterans, I would like to extend a sincere appreciation to the Knights of Columbus and our Ventura County Veterans Service Office for exemplary community service assisting veterans.
