COVID-19 Vaccines Through the VA
On Monday, March 15, 2021, the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) announced that most* veterans, regardless of age or risk factors, are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
You must be enrolled in VA Healthcare to receive a COVID-19 vaccine through the VAGLAHS. If you are not enrolled in VA Healthcare, we at the Gold Coast Veterans Foundation can assist you with completing the application and sending it to the VA.
* Veterans who are currently ineligible are the following groups:
- Veterans with an allergy to a component of the vaccine
- Veterans with an active COVID infection (infection diagnosed in the last 20 days; Veteran may receive vaccine once 20 days have passed from the time of diagnosis)
- Veterans who have received antibody therapy for COVID in the last 90 days.
All vaccines are currently being administered at the Oxnard VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) and the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center.
In addition, because the VAGLAHS has a steady supply of vaccines, primary and secondary caregivers who are formally enrolled and participating in the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) are also eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
