Active-duty military stationed at the Channel Islands Coast Guard Station
received over $2,000 in donated emergency funds from theVentura County chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).

MOAA president Steve Huber reached out to the local veterans’ nonprofit Gold Coast Veterans Foundation (GCVF), which annually serves over 2,000 Ventura County veterans, for any financial assistance it could provide. GCVF donated $1,000 to those service members in need, which was then matched by the Navy League Channel Islands Council.

These funds filled a vital funding gap for local sailors while the U.S. federal government was shut down from late December 2018 through late January. This allowed our brave men and women to continue to fulfill their mission of protecting our coastline and save lives at sea.
